Everything about t-shirts. How t-shirts are made, history of t-shirts and t-shirt printing methods.

T-Shirts Are All the Craze for Casual Friday

Many companies offer Casual Fridays to their employees. On Casual Friday, the dress code is much less strict. You can wear jeans, for example, or maybe shorts, instead of your usual slacks or skirt and collared, button-down shirt or blouse. Some offices might allow open-toed shoes on Casual Friday. Some might limit the casual day to khakis or sneakers. At most offices, though, Casual Friday will allow you to wear a t-shirt on that one day of the week. Wouldn’t it be fun to get some custom t-shirts made just for the office?

If you’re looking for simplicity in your wardrobe and don’t mind doing laundry once a week, you could just make one Casual Friday t-shirt for yourself. It could say TGIF, for “Thank Goodness It’s Friday,” or maybe “Counting the Minutes Till 5pm.”

If you’d like to make more than one t-shirt, the options are endless. You could include a joke about Casual Friday, like, “I work so many hours that this stupid t-shirt is the only thing I own that’s not a suit.” You could boast about your weekend plans with logos like “Goin’ Fishin’,” or “My other t-shirt is a sailboat.” Your t-shirt doesn’t have to be about Casual Friday, or even about the weekend. If you don’t want to cause a stir, you could just design a t-shirt with your office logo on it, and maybe your name on the back.

You can also get together with some coworkers to brainstorm ideas for Casual Friday t-shirts. You can get new ones every couple months or so, perhaps. Or, you could make t-shirts for each other, with the slogans or logos being a surprise.

If you are an employer who wants to put Casual Fridays into effect, maybe you are worried about enforcing the more casual dress code. There are still rules, after all, like no open-toed shoes, perhaps, or no sweatpants. Sometimes, though, it is more of a challenge for employees to respect the dress code when it is Casual Friday. Many times, once the rules are stretched a little bit, the entire dress code goes out the window completely. One option for preventing this kind of thing without being a “mean boss” might be to have t-shirts made for your employees for Casual Friday. Making the dress code for Casual Friday simple but specific might seem lame, but it actually takes the pressure off of people the same way a less strict dress code does. If you know that when you wake up on Friday morning you can just throw on your jeans and company t-shirt, you have much less to worry about than if you had to put a whole suit or dressier outfit together. So matching t-shirts would still be a break—and don’t forget, everyone loves getting free stuff!

Whether you’re making t-shirts just for yourself or for the whole department, consider custom design for Casual Fridays. You can bring some creativity and humor into the end of the week, for a price that won’t break the budget.

Custom T-Shirts for Your Stuffed Animals or Dolls Are a Perfect Fit

Dolls and stuffed animals with their own wardrobe ranging from formal to casual wear are very common and popular with kids these days. It is even becoming more and more popular to have dolls and the children who own them in matching outfits. Parents pay extraordinary amounts of money to get a doll that “looks like” their child and will then buy the outfits to complete the look.

Often when you go to build a customized bear, the bear gets outfitted similar to the child making it. You can even buy extra clothes to take home so that when the child changes, the bear can too. The trend of customizing toys and dolls is really popular these days. Kids love dressing their dolls and stuffed animals in different clothes and having a toy wardrobe full of things that look like real people clothes.

Get a cool custom-made T-shirt to put on your stuffed animal or doll to dress them up with a little attitude or for fun. Here are some fun suggestions to put on T-shirts for dolls and stuffed animals:

  • I’m not a Desperate Housewife, I’m a Desperate Doll.
  • If I’m the New Barbie, Where’s My Dream House, Dream Car and Ken?
  • Don’t Dare Call Me a Stuffed Animal, the Correct Term is Full Non-Person.
  • Who’s your Daddy? Mine’s Geppetto.
  • Doll: $200.00, Coordinating Outfits: $100, Happy Little Girl: Priceless
  • I’m with her/him (and an arrow)
  • I don’t Want to Be Bear, That’s Why I Have this Shirt.

You can use popular design-based T-shirts in your search for the perfect custom-made T-shirt for your stuffed animal or doll. The popular Eat, Sleep, Whatever T-shirt could be Eat, Sleep, Be Dragged Around By a Toddler or No Eat, No Sleep, Just Look Good. You could go with the design Hi, My name is ___ and add the toy’s name or a funny nickname or something sassy.

Another fun thing to do with T-shirts for teddy bears is to have custom-made ones for special occasions. Groom Dennis and Bride Jo-Ann would love to receive a teddy bear couple outfitted with T-shirts with their names on them. Amanda, Class of 2009 will be thrilled with a bear in a shirt stating just that. A bear whose shirt says Happy Birthday Luke will be popular with the birthday boy.

T-Shirts Can Be Personal Ads and the Ultimate Conversation Starter

Nice weather, huh? What’s your sign? Perhaps it’s time to freshen up your conversation starters. If you’re in the market for a special someone, trying letting your t-shirt do the talking for you.

A t-shirt with a funny saying or unusual design can easily spark a conversation. Start thinking of t-shirts as personal ads. They’re a way to show off your personality and interests. Hey, you gotta get dressed, right? Why not don a shirt that could help kick your love life into overdrive.

Funny shirts

We all love to be around people who make us laugh. If you can get a smile out of that cutie sitting next to you on the bus, you’ve got an opening to introduce yourself. T-shirts with funny sayings are hugely popular right now, so shopping for one will be easy.

Sometimes we all enjoy a bit of “potty humor” or laugh at an offensive joke. But if you’re looking to meet a special someone, you should probably steer clear of the lewd and crude. Or anything that indicates you like to party until you pass out.

Political t-shirts

What social issues matter to you most? Who do you plan to vote for in the upcoming election? Wearing a t-shirt that expresses your opinion on a social or political issue can be a great way to meet someone who shares your values. You could even invite them to a meeting or rally.

Bands, movies, and TV shows

Are you a diehard Beatles fan? Have you memorized every line of The Godfather? Sport a shirt featuring a pop culture reference, and you could meet someone with similar tastes in movies and music. A shirt with a classic movie quote is always a winner, and it’s a natural segue into asking them out to the movie. Concert shirts are cool, too, and they present you with opportunity to ask them to check out a new band that’s playing this weekend.

Hobbies and interests

Whatever you love to do, there’s a t-shirt out there that says it. Try a shirt featuring the logo of your favorite sports team or a print of your favorite piece of art. You can also wear shirts indicating you belong to a particular club or team. Next thing you know, you’ll be inviting them to the opening of the Impressionist collection at the local museum. Having things in common is the foundation of a strong, healthy relationship.

Announce your singleness

If you’re feeling bold, just come right out and say it: I’m single and looking! It could actually serve a practical purpose. We’ve all spotted a looker but opted not to chat them up thinking “Someone that good looking can’t possibly be single.” Your shirt would clear that question right up.

Time to trade in your plain white tees for something with a bit more personality. Be funny, be provocative…you can even be downright desperate! Maybe that last one isn’t the best idea. Whatever style you go for, next time you’re shopping for tops, keep personal ads in mind.

Make every day Father’s Day with custom t-shirts designed by you!

Believe it or not, 2008 marks the 100th anniversary of the first Father’s Day. Since 1908, people have been taking a day out of the year to celebrate and honor their fathers. Just like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day is—at least in the United States—not a religious holiday. It’s just a chance for families to say “Thanks” to dads and grandfathers all over the country.

Father’s Day falls each year on the third Sunday in June. For me, this means a serious crunch of gift-buying for my dad. His birthday is on June 25th, and always falls within a couple of days of Father’s Day. So, each year, I have to come up with great presents for two major dad-related holidays, often in the same week!

Dads are hard to buy for. It’s really hard to find a gift that is both thoughtful and useful. Does your dad like homemade gifts? Or is he more of a slick gadgets kind of guy? Or does he always want things like socks and underwear—things he doesn’t want to bother buying himself?

One great idea for Father’s Day is to have a t-shirt made in honor of your dad, grandpa, or husband. What better way to celebrate your loved one and show your love than with a creative, wearable message that you—or he—can wear over and over again through the years?

If your dad likes wearing t-shirts, you could design a custom t-shirt just for him on Father’s Day. You could go many different directions with your design: you could focus on the holiday and include text, like “World’s Best Dad” or “Today is My Day;” you could choose images from your special man’s favorite sports teams or movies; you could also use pictures of your family—baby pictures, wedding photos, and things like that. This way, your dad can enjoy his gift not just on Father’s Day, but anytime he chooses to wear his t-shirt.

Another way to go would be to design custom t-shirts for the rest of the family—when your dad comes down the stairs on Father’s Day morning, he will see an entire family wearing t-shirts made in his honor. These t-shirts could be matching, with a classic message like, “We love you, Dad!” or “Thanks for being a great dad!” You could also go more in depth and have each family member make an individual t-shirt. This will allow for more creativity, and will probably end up making Dad feel even more special. It is good for everyone to sit down once in awhile and create something out of love and caring for someone else. You’ll be delightfully surprised to see the sweet, funny, and heartfelt messages your family members will come up with for their Father’s Day t-shirts. And dad will be too!

And don’t forget about the other dads in your life: grandpas, husbands, uncles, and even sons! Custom designing a t-shirt for any of these people will send them the message that everyone appreciates the work and love they put into their jobs as dads.

No Need to Buy in Bulk – Buy Custom T-Shirts as You Need Them

It used to be that you could not order just one custom designed t-shirt. Because of the way they made t-shirts, companies could not print single shirts. The large and expensive setup required to make the t-shirts meant that t-shirt designing companies had to charge very high setup fees to make each design. This meant that it was impossible to make a cost effective single t-shirt. Each shirt would cost such a giant setup fee that it wouldn’t be worth the time, effort, and money that it would cost the company or the customer.

This meant that, if you wanted to order custom designed t-shirts, you had to be ready to order, for example, ten or more. You couldn’t just order a t-shirt designed for yourself, to ask your girlfriend to prom, or to give your dad a t-shirt for Father’s Day, because you couldn’t order just one. The setup fee would have to be spread over a larger number of t-shirts in order to be worth it.

The traditional method was called “screen printing,” and is still used on larger orders for t-shirts. But now there is another, newer technology for printing t-shirts. This new technology allows t-shirt printers to print just one t-shirt for you. The new “No Minimum Order” policy is carried by most t-shirt printers now because of this new technology. The new printing is digital, and is called “Direct to Garment” printing. It prints the design directly onto the garment. There is no setup, and the quality does not suffer. In fact, the quality is very good—the fabric is soft, not rigid or shiny like the older transfers made it feel.

You can still get screen printing and embroidery on your custom design t-shirts. You just need to still live by the minimum order rule for these techniques, since they still require the large setup fee. This means you can also still get discounts for buying in bulk (these discounts are offered by many companies). So if you’re ordering t-shirts for your soccer team or your senior class, you can get them screen printed and get a lower price. Most companies now offer both options—screen printing and direct to garment.

What this all means is that you can let loose imagining the possibilities for single t-shirts. You can create new t-shirt just for yourself, for the first day of school, or to ask someone out. You can make joke t-shirts for your friends, and customize them by putting their names on the front or back, or putting funny pictures on each person’s shirt. You can also make t-shirts for honorary guests, or for the birthday girl, or for your father on Father’s Day. The sky’s the limit now that the new direct to garment technology has opened up the option of getting just one t-shirt printed with your own original design. Have fun!

Father’s Day History – Dad’s Love T-Shirts as Gifts

The third Sunday in June of every year is set aside to honor fathers all across the United States, whether they’re new to fatherhood or already a Grandpa. It’s a day when the male head of the household gets to be ‘King for the Day’.

After church services, during which the state of fatherhood is often touched upon, Dad’s everywhere can expect to go home, be waited on hand and foot and treated to a special dinner… well, some fathers can. Others, especially raising children by themselves, celebrate in other ways, even if it’s just to stare at their children and smile. Father’s Day doesn’t have to mean fancy dinners or cards; it can also be recognized in a child’s smile or a tiny hand holding onto your little finger.

No one really knows who started the concept of Father’s Day; though some believe that it originated with a certain good woman from West Virginia who thought that setting aside a day to honor fathers was a good idea. At her request, a special Father’s Day service was conducted at her local church in 1908. Another young woman from Florida wrote to her state governor asking that he proclaim a Father’s Day. Regardless, it seems that a number of like minded women felt that fathers everywhere needed to be officially recognized for their parts in raising children, providing for the family and generally trying to keep order in households across the nation, to varying degrees of success. However, it is generally accepted that a woman in Spokane, Washington was the driving force behind such a declaration, after she petitioned her local minister to ask congregational members of her church to select one Sunday in June to remind churchgoers of the “appreciation owed to fathers.” Mainly remembering her own father and his sacrifices on her behalf, this woman asked that the day be celebrated on her late father’s birthday, hence the date. On that first Father’s Day, on June 19, 1910, local newspapers ran the story. During following years, neighboring communities also observed the day, but it wasn’t until 1924 that President Calvin Coolidge suggested that the day be recognized and honored throughout America.

On Father’s Day, fathers are gifted with t-shirts, ties, bathrobes, pipes and whatever else tickles the fancy of children offering their own idea of thanks for their Dad’s. School children make crafts geared to please, from homemade cards to clay ashtrays and table decorations. Older children often make a gift for Dad as well, whether it’s a crocheted pair of slippers or a knitted sweater, the gifts and mementoes always appreciated, even if they’re the wrong size, color or shape. Gifts of pipes and cigars have long been traditional throughout the history of Father’s Day, though these days, more health conscious fathers receive gift certificates to gyms and golf courses. But our favorite is a t-shirt that shows how much you love your dad or maybe a funny novelty shirt to make him laugh.

Father’s Day also allows fathers everywhere to reflect on their own task of providing examples and lessons for their children, and also to remember that they’re not in this business of raising children alone. Millions of fathers throughout America all face moments of self-doubt or uncertainty, but being a father never came with an instruction book. Every father raises his own children to the best of his ability, and mothers and children take this very special day to recognize that fact.

Father’s Day is a day when a Dad is given the freedom to while away his Sunday doing anything he pleases, even if that means sitting in the recliner watching television all day long. On this day, no one minds if Dad stays in his bathrobe or tinkers in the garage or stays out golfing from sunup to sundown. It’s Father’s Day.

Declare YOUR Independence with a T-Shirt

Fireworks, parades, barbecues, fairs, picnics, baseball games–all of these fun events are commonly associated with the Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day. This is a national holiday that commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. This document officially declared independence from England. Though the day was set aside to celebrate the history and traditions of the U.S., the Fourth of July is more often than not viewed as a patriotic festival.

There’s a host of family gatherings and community-sponsored events that happen every Fourth of July, and it’s important for participants to dress the part. In the weeks preceding the big day, stores are full of patriotic-themed hats, shirts and jackets. That’s all very well and good, but why look like everyone else? Why not dream up something completely unique?

There is a way to stand out from the crowd without busting your budget. By designing and purchasing your very own custom designed T-shirt, you’re ensuring that you’ll have an original look this Independence Day. The process of designing your own T-shirt may seem daunting at first, but most custom design T-shirt manufacturers strive to make the process as painless as possible.

But, first things first. What do you do for an idea? Let’s start with the theme of “patriotism” and move on from there. When you think of the fourth of July, what comes to mind? The colors red, white and blue, the American flag and the Statue of Liberty are just a few. Do an internet search and see what catches your eye. Bookmark the top contenders, or print them out for later reference.

You can incorporate text along with the images. You should take some time to brainstorm at least five ideas of your own, but here are a few phrases to start with:

  • Sweet land of liberty
  • Stand beside her and guide her
  • Proud to be an American
  • God bless America
  • Born free
  • America the beautiful

Once you have a cohesive idea of what you’d like to put on your shirt, the next step is to select the shirt itself. Do you want a long sleeve shirt, a short sleeve shirt, or a shirt with no sleeves at all? Do you want a T-shirt cut for men, women, or a small child? Do you want a collar? How about spaghetti straps? All you need to do is select the type of shirt you’d like, then choose the fabric, the size, and the color.

It’s a good idea to start this process in early to be sure to have your shirt ready to go when the Fourth of July rolls around.

Some Celebrities Want More Privacy – Evidence on T-Shirts

Heidi Montag

A white shirt with “I want more privacy” in huge bright pink lettering was spotted on Heidi Montag during a recent trip to Disneyland. The shirt is obviously a joke because Heidi and her boyfriend Spencer Pratt main job is to look good, travel around and have people take pictures of them. In the past year the couple has brought in over $3 million for TV salaries, club appearances, photo shoots and business deals. I am sure they want more privacy but I bet they would rather have the $3 million. Via: Buzznet
