Jack Black Angelina Jolie

Actors Promote their Movies by Wearing T-Shirts

Jack Black Angelina Jolie

Jack Black was wearing a Kung Fu Panda t-shirt during an interview at the Cannes Film Festival while sitting next to the very pregnant Angelina Jolie. The Kung Fu Panda shirt is a rolled up panda that almost looks like a yin and yang symbol.

In the movie Jack Black is the lazy panda who tries to protect his village as a great martial artist. Jolie is the voice of the Tigress who is the lazy bear’s martial arts rival. Visit KungFuPanda.com for more information on the movie that is to be released on June 6, 2008. No lazy panda shirts are for sale on their site yet but I am sure they are coming. Harrison Ford

Top Actor Spotted in Blank Brown T-Shirt

Harrison Ford

Sometimes a shirt is just a shirt. While t-shirts are incredible vehicles for expressing oneself sometimes people have nothing to say and wear blank t-shirts. Harrison Ford was spotted in L.A. wearing jeans and a blank light brown t-shirt.

The 65 year old Harrison was getting ready for the Cannes Film Festival for the unveiling of the potential blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of the Crystal Skull. It has been almost 20 years Harrison last played Jones in the The Last Crusade which debuted in 1989. Let’s hope it was worth the wait. Via Pacific Coast News Online

Orange t-shirts

Plain Orange T-Shirts in Gym Class?

Orange t-shirtsPictures from an upcoming episode of Ugly Betty show what appears to be one of Betty’s flashback’s to her earlier days in gym class. The image show more than a dozen girls including Lindsay Lohan wearing an orange t-shirt.

I don’t know what school you went to but my Junior High and High School didn’t supply prison orange t-shirts. We actually had very thick reversible t-shirts with our school mascot. The reversible t-shirts made is so you could have a dark or light shirt making team sports easier.

Lionel Richie

One Celebrity Says Hello on His T-Shirt

Lionel RichieIf you have something to say, a t-shirt is a great way to do it. Lionel Richie is a man of words but on his t-shirt he kept it short. Richie was spotted with his new granddaughter wearing a t-shirt with the word “Hello”. Personally I don’t know why a guy who has had five number one singles, eleven completed albums, and received a Grammy would wear a “Hello” shirt but sometimes its best to let our t-shirts do the talking. The Hello is in a large font in white on an charcoal colored long sleeved t-shirt. Smiley

Celebrities Wear Positive Message T-Shirts – Smiley Face T-Shirts and their History

Smiley

You couldn’t miss the large yellow smiley face design on Brazilian supermodel Alessandro Ambrosio’s t-shirt. The smiley was first used in 1963 by Harvey Bell for an insurance firm. However because Ball did not try to promote or trademark the yellow smiley face it fell into public domain. The smiley face became popular in the early 1970s when the Spain brothers used it on novelty items with phrases like “Have a Happy Day”. The image was finally trademarked in 1971 by Frankin Loufrani and is used in over 100 countries and 25 classes of goods and products. In the 1980s the smiley became a part of acid house dance music culture when it was engraved on ecstasy tablets. Wal-Mart also tried to trademark the smiley face in the United States but encountered a lot of legal conflicts and soon began to phase out the smiley faces and they officially lost the case in March 2008. There are currently more than 1,200 smiley emoticons registered with the Washington Library of Congress. Image from Pacific Coast News and history of the smiley from Wikipedia.

Recycle

Celebrities Promote Recyling on T-Shirts

Recycle

To promote their new movie “What happens in Vegas..”, Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher made an appearance on MTV’s TRL. Kutcher was wearing a bright green t-shirt with the word Recycle repeated once in solid white and in an outline over the rest of the shirt. In a smaller font is the phrase “Have a Nice Day”. The design is a take off of the old bags that had the phrase “Thank you” repeated all over the bag.

It is great to see celebrities using their time on-air to spread the word about important lifestyle choices such as recycling. Of course one celeb wearing a recycling shirt isn’t going to change the world but every bit counts.

Avon

Pink T-Shirts and Breast Cancer Walks Raise Money and Awareness

Avon

Breast Cancer walks have been an incredible way for organizations such as the Avon Foundation and Susan G. Komen to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research and education. Actress Reese Witherspoon was named the Honorary Chairman of the Avon Foundation and gave a speech at the walk’s closing ceremonies. As with most of the walkers Witherspoon was wearing the bright pink Avon Walk for Breast cancer T-Shirt.

The Avon Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 1955 with a mission to improve the lives of women and their families. Today that mission is brought to life through two key initiatives: the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, which advances access to care and finding a cure, with a focus on the medically underserved; and the Speak Out Against Domestic Violence program which works to end the cycle of domestic violence, with a special focus on children.

Retro

Retro 1980s T-Shirts Worn By Celebrities

Retro

A commercial for Saturday Night Live was aired this week showing Shia LaBeouf and Andy Samberg promoting the next episode of SNL. Andy and Shia are “exploring the roof garden” wearing two retro styled t-shirts. Andy’s is wearing a forest green t-shirt with a bear and the phrase “John Muir Grizzlies”. From what I can tell John Muir School is an elementary school in Berkeley California whose mascot is the Grizzlies. Shia’s is wearing a maroon t-shirt with the “South Portland Spring Point Festival” and 1986. Not sure why they are wearing such random shirts but I guess we will have to wait until Saturday night to find out. Visit NBC to watch the commercial.

John Mayer

Celebrities Modify T-Shirts on the Fly

John MayerWe all love free t-shirts but there are some free t-shirts that you just may not want to accept. A fan gave singer John Mayer a t-shirt with the phrase Mr. Douchebag and a funny round blue in bright colors below. Despite the weird t-shirt gift, Mayer put on the shirt and used his autograph pen to cross out the word “douchebag” and wrote “badass” right above to make it say “Mr. Badass”.

Personally I don’t think crossing out “Douchebag” and writing “badass” really makes you a badass but at least he is willing to have fun. The shirt is a play on the Little Miss series by Junk Food Clothing.

If you are brave enough you can deface your own Mr. Douchebag shirt from David & Goliath

Mischa Barton

Celebrities Wear Random T-Shirts – Mischa Barton – “Let’s Go Bite Some Butts” T-Shirt

People definitely notice when celebrities wear t-shirts with slogans. If you are a t-shirt company getting a celebrity to wear your t-shirt would really put your company on the map. But sometimes celebrities just wear really random t-shirts. Mischa Barton was recently spotted wearing a random t-shirt with an image of a dog wearing a hat that says “Hawk Hounds” with the phrase “Let’s go bite some butts” below. I am not sure if that is a dog catcher company t-shirt or just a random joke t-shirt but it is kind of funny.
