Lingerie

Tips for Men Buying Lingerie for their Partner

Lingerie

For a guy there is nothing sexier than seeing the woman he loves wearing some hot lingerie. Bringing home some lingerie for your girlfriend or wife can be a great way to show her you care and that you are willing to spice things up just a bit, but it can also lead to you getting kicked in the privates if you do not go about it in just the right way.

Following these tips will help you make a better decision when buying lingerie for your partner:

•    Make sure she likes lingerie: Before you even go to the mall to look, make sure your partner is into lingerie. If you bring home some sexy lingerie and your wife or girlfriend is not into it, you risk hearing, ‘What, you don’t like me the way I am?’ Not worth it. Drop a subtle hint or two if you have to, but find out for sure if she likes the stuff and remember just because you do, doesn’t mean she will.
•    Never guess on the size: Whatever you do, never guess on the size. Find out what size she is before you go as this will certainly help you to divert an absolute disaster. If you bring home a size that is too big for your partner you will not be having the fun you envisioned but you will be convincing her to not leave you and trying to get her to stop crying. If you have to guess a size, go smaller. You may get it wrong, but she will probably be flattered that you think of her so tiny. This of course could backfire too and have you hearing that same phrase from earlier, so do yourself a favor and find out what size she is beforehand.
•    Watch what you say: When you go into a lingerie store, the best place to get ideas is from the women who work at the store. While this is fine and dandy, don’t go home and say, ‘Yeah, this looked great on the sales girl, or the sales girl said you would like this.’ Lingerie is an intimate gift and even if you are not a mushy guy, don’t announce that to your partner.
•    Keep your receipt: Make sure you keep your receipt so if your partner doesn’t like what you picked, she can take it back and get what she wants.
•    Don’t go overboard: Unless your wife or girlfriend tell you otherwise, go conservative on what you pick. Going too risqué at first can be a big mistake. Start out with something nice and sexy, but stay on the more conservative side. As the time goes on you can attempt to get sexier outfits, but it’s not recommended right out of the gates.
•    Pick colors she likes: You may love that candy apple red teddy you saw, but if your partner hates red, don’t bother. The idea is to get her to wear what you buy so go with colors you know she likes.

Basically when you buy lingerie for your partner, just use common sense and remember that women sometime have very delicate feelings. Approaching the subject of lingerie with the utmost of caution will increase your chances of her wearing it the first time and many times after that.

Cowboy boots

Guide to Choosing Cowboy Boots

Cowboy boots

You don’t have to be a cowboy to wear a pair of cowboy boots. Want proof? Just take a look around the next time you are out and about and you will see both men and women alike sporting their favorite pair of cowboy boots. If you are interested in a pair of cowboy boots there are several things that you should consider before you decide what you are going to purchase.

Knowing what you are looking at and what you want the boots for can mean the difference between buying a pair of cowboy boots that will be a great comfort to your feet and buying a pair that will leave many blisters behind. Here is what to look for:

•    Style: There are hundreds if not thousands of styles of cowboy boots that you can choose from but the western style boots that are so popular fall into two categories. The first is traditional and the second is fashion. The traditional boots have more of that classic look that has been around since the age of the cowboys and are the kind of boots that you would see in an old western film. The fashion boots have a more urban or contemporary look to them and are generally worn by women. These boots were made popular by movie starts like Jessica Simpson, who actually has a line of cowboy boots.
•    Material: With cowboy boots you definitely get what you pay for. If you find a pair of boots that are extremely cheap that will be because they are made of cheap materials. Leather is the material of choice when it comes to cowboy boots but there a number of other materials that are popular as well which include crocodile skin, python or snake skin, and ostrich hide. A pair of boots made with quality materials will definitely cost you more, but they will also stand the test of time much better than that of an inferior pair.
•    Shank: The shank is the upper part of the boot and can range significantly in how high up the leg it comes. The traditional style has the shank covering the entire calf while the more contemporary styles, also known as packer and stockman boots, usually come up to just under the calf and these types are more often worn by women. Shank height is strictly a personal preference.
•    Toe: You can choose a more pointed look here or go with a more rounded toe; it is really all up to you. The traditional boots of the old west had the more pointed toe, so if you want the traditional look go for the pointed look.
•    Heel: Here is a point that many overlook. If you are buying your boots and intend on dancing in them then you want to be sure that the heel is not too tall. There is no set standard here, just consider what you will be doing in your boots.

Finally, be sure that you actually try on your boots before you buy them. Cowboy boots come in so many styles and colors but if they don’t fit your foot properly then there is really no point in buying them. When you do go cowboy boot shopping, plan on blocking out some time because just when you think you have found the perfect pair, another pair will catch your eye and call out your name.

Underwear

When Thongs are Wrong – Underwear Alternatives that aren’t Granny Panties

Underwear

There are many times in a woman’s life when she may want to wear a pair of thong underwear as that is what she is used to, but a certain situation dictates otherwise. Perhaps it is inappropriate at her place of work, her place or worship, or maybe her child’s school. Whatever the case may be there are times when a thong is wrong, but what are some underwear alternatives for women that aren’t granny panties?

Just because you can’t wear a thong doesn’t mean you have to go with the fluffy white cotton granny panties. In fact there are so many alternatives these days that you never have to wear granny panties again if you don’t want too. Here are some alternatives to wearing your thong:

•    Bikini: You can always go with a nice pair of bikini panties as an alternative to a thong. Bikini panties are made to ride on the hips and fit in a snug fashion so they won’t bunch up like the traditional granny panties do. Bikini panties can be very comfortable as they will fit you, as the name implies, like your bikini bottoms would. You can even go with a string bikini cut which still sits on the hips but the sides of the panties are reduced to a string. This decreases the chance of panty lines appearing on the sides and tends to fit and feel more like a thong.

•    Hipsters:
Hipsters obviously rest on your hips and are another great alternative to thongs. They tend to cover the hips a bit more than the bikini panties do and there is also a little more coverage in the rear. The only drawback to so much coverage is an increased chance of seeing panty lines. You also have the dreaded riding up of the panties that can occur which leads to the ever embarrassing wedgey pick.

•    Boyshorts:
Boyshorts are a great alternative to a thong and are usually a bit more comfortable as opposed to the hipsters and bikini panties. Boyshorts sort of resemble men’s briefs but are meant to fit snuggly and offer great coverage in the rear without the hassle of riding up.

•    Cheekees:
Similar to boyshorts in that they offer great coverage in the rear they are called cheekees for a reason. Usually cheekees are not as snug fitting as boyshorts and because the cut is different, cheekees tend to let, well, your cheeks begin to show.

•    Commando:
Another alternative to wearing a thong is wearing nothing at all or ‘going commando’ as they say. While it is an alternative and you certainly won’t have to worry about panty lines, if a thong is inappropriate for an occasion, then going commando would be a cardinal sin.

Just because a thong is not in order it doesn’t mean that you can’t still wear a comfortable pair of panties. With all the options that are available these days, the death of the every hated granny panties are only a matter of time.

Seasons

Tips for Dressing Fashionably Between Seasons

Seasons

There is perhaps no better time to dress up than in between seasons. When you think about it, what could be better? Unlike the winter or summer months, in that in between time you are not confined to a certain part of your wardrobe due to the weather. It is for this reason that the time between seasons should be the time were you decide to dress a little bit riskier and take some chances that you may not otherwise take.

Dressing in between the seasons can offer you a whole host of options that you may not otherwise have. Here are a few tips for dressing in the off-season so to speak:

•    Combine the seasons: Because it is not winter the days and nights will be cool but not freezing and because it is not summer the days and nights will be warm but not hot. This is the perfect opportunity to combine the fashions of the different seasons. While it may be cold enough for you to still wear a jacket, it may not be so cold that you can’t wear a nice summer top underneath of that jacket. If it’s too hot for a jacket, you can break out some cool sweaters and wear those. No matter what the weather, a nice looking leather jacket is almost always a great compliment to any outfit and can easily be removed if the weather so dictates.
•    Mix it up with skirts: If you ladies find that it is still a little too cold for just a skirt, you can mix it up by wearing a really hip pair of leggings. This will allow you the warmth you need and still let you wear that sexy skirt you’ve been dying to break out. If you don’t like leggings, try wearing some hosiery provided it isn’t too cold.
•    Use layers: This is for that time where the weather doesn’t know if it wants to be hot or cold. Start off the morning by wearing great looking tops that can be layered and pair them off with a really nice pair of jeans or pants. As the weather heats up, if it does, you can begin to ‘peel off’ layers. This technique will keep you cooler and will also have you constantly changing your look throughout the day. If the weather begins to cool as the day goes on, add the layers back in any fashionable way you like.
•    Get funky with accessories: There is not a lot of times during the year were you can wear light and fancy scarves, leggings, and gloves that have the fingers cut away, but the off-season is the perfect time. Wear things that you normally don’t get a chance to wear and remember to get funky with it an experiment a little bit. Who knows, you may actually start a new trend.

When the off-season comes, enjoy it. There are too many other times of the year where you are forced to dress one way or another. When your opportunity comes to let loose, go for it, you only live once.

Hiding cellulite

Guide to Clothing Styles that Hide Cellulite

Hiding cellulite

It is estimated that cellulite affects 90 percent of women today. Cellulite can be embarrassing as it is sometimes referred to as ‘cottage cheese’ or ‘golf ball’ syndrome, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t something you can do about it. While it should be noted that there is no ‘magic pills’ or special cellulite reducing creams that work, there is something you can do to hide cellulite when you are out and about.

Just because you have cellulite doesn’t mean that you have to show it off to the rest of the world. Here are some ways to hide the unsightly stuff and still look great:

•    Pants and jeans: Tight is not your friend. Don’t try to squeeze yourself into a pair of pants as this will not be flattering to your figure and will actually help show your flaws instead of hide them. You should also be sure to stick with darker colors as lighter colors not only show off cellulite better, but also have a tendency to make your legs look bigger than they actually are. With jeans be sure to get a loose fit instead of a tight fit and leave the hip huggers alone. Avoid skinny jeans at all costs, as bigger legs just don’t look good in them.

•    Shorts: Everyone longs to wear a cute pair of denim short shorts, but having cellulite makes this nearly impossible. Instead try wearing a cute pair of carpris or bermuda shorts. These types of shorts will give you the comfort you want and the coverage you need.

•    Skirts and dresses: When wearing skirts and dresses go for ones that are on the longer side as opposed to the shorter side. This doesn’t mean that they have to go down to your ankles, but wearing a skirt or dress that goes down to the top of your calf will hide all your cellulite and still have you showing off some skin.

•    Beach wear:
Simply putting on a one piece is no solution for trying to hide cellulite. These days there are many bikini combinations that are designed with you in mind. Of course you will want to stay away from regular bottoms and thongs, but you can still get a bikini, just get one that has swimmers shorts or bikini shorts. If you insist on a regular bikini bottom, you can get a bottom skirt that compliments your suit and hides your cellulite as well. There are also a number of wraps that can be purchased that are both fashionable and feasible for hiding cellulite. These are especially nice for the times that you don’t want to go in the water but you do want to stroll down the beach.

Having cellulite can be a pain, but it doesn’t mean you can’t look your best. You are not the only one that has cellulite but that fact shouldn’t stop you from trying to hide it if that is your desire. If done properly it is possible to look great and cover up the cellulite that you don’t want anyone else to see.

Dark complexion

Best Colors for Dark Complexions – What to Wear and What not to Wear

Dark complexion

When it comes to what color of clothing you should wear you should always consider your complexion. If you have a dark complexion you are in luck as there are full spectrums of colors that will look good on you. There is however no one size fits all rule as there are different levels of what would be considered a ‘dark complexion.’ While the best outfit to wear is always the one you get the most compliments in there are some general guidelines that can help you to determine what to wear and what not to wear with your darker complexion.

If you have a dark complexion there are basically three categories that you will fall in. Determining which category you fall under will help you determine what types of colors are going to look best on you. Here is a quick guide:

1.    Cool Toned: A cool toned individual will have a much darker complexion that the any other type. When you are cool toned, you will find that colors such as red, pink ,blue, and lavender look great with your complexion. On the other side of the fence, you will find that colors such as yellow and orange do not. Cool toned individuals usually find comfort and style with the many different shades of red as well as blues, purple, and maroon.

2.    Warm Toned: A warm toned individual will have a lighter skin complexion in comparison to a cool toned individual but will still have an overall dark complexion. When you are warm toned, you will look great in orange, yellow, and even apricot colors, but you will not look particularly good in the colors that the cool toned individuals look good in. Being warm toned you will want to avoid the darker colors like reds, blues, and even maroon. Choosing earthy colors is usually a safe bet. Colors such as gold, brown, green, orange, and apricot usually fit the bill.

3.    Mixed Tones: This type of skin complexion is both unique and harder to determine which color of clothing looks best with it. The reason is that if you are a mixed tone your complexion will tend to change somewhat throughout the year. You may be one tone in the summer and a totally different tone in the winter. Because of this you can wear all the colors that look good with cool toned and warm toned individuals, you just have to take more care as to what your current tone is before you get dressed. Mixed toned individuals are generally on the warmer toned side but if you can tell when you have a sun burn or people can see you blush, then this describes you.

Whatever color you decide to wear with your dark complexion you should be comfortable in it. It is after all your body you are dressing up. But there is no reason why you can’t feel great and look your best and let some of the colors of the rainbow help you out. Being a darker complexion can be challenging when it comes to deciding what to wear, but knowing your tone ahead of time may help you to decide just a bit easier.

Look taller

How to Look Taller with the Right Clothes

Look taller

Fashion writers and other journalists are constantly writing articles about the style of certain celebrities. They like to analyze exactly what they are wearing and why it works so well. You’ll even find countless sources that provide information on where you can buy clothes to recreate the look of your favorite stars. However, often when we do try to get the same look, we are disappointed. It doesn’t look nearly as good on us as it does on the celebrities we watch. It’s not all about good looks. It is about working with your body type and choosing clothes that enhance your assets and downplay your negatives. Celebrities usually have stylists who help them do just that. The average person needs to do it on her own.

One of the most common issues that many regular people have is that they are not as tall as many of the celebrities and models who make clothes look so good. However, if you are vertically challenged and want to look taller, knowing how to use the right clothes to your advantage will help project the look you want. You can look taller with a little clothing magic.

To look taller in your clothes, you need to start with a solid line from head to toe. That means you should wear the same color or at least similar shades both on top and bottom. This will help you look slimmer and taller because the visual line of your body will not be cut by a contrasting color. The uninterrupted visual line is very important when striving to look taller.

Stripes are another very important tool to use in making yourself look taller. Choosing to wear vertical stripes will give the illusion that you are actually taller than you really are. Keep the stripes thin if you want to look taller and thinner. Wide stripes give you a look of added weight. Stay away from horizontal stripes. They make a drastic visual cut in your height. They also make you look heavier than you really are. Pin-striped pants are a great way to make your legs look tall and thin.

Add real height to your silhouette by wearing high heel shoes. This extra height will make you feel taller and encourage you to stand up straighter so you look taller than usual. Wear shoes that are the same color as your pants to keep that visual line going.
Avoid wearing patterns and belts. Make sure your clothing fits well and is not too tight. If it is too tight, it is distracting and disrupts the visual line of the body. Steer away from pants with cuffs also.

By using the tips provided here you will be well on your way to creating a visual illusion of height with your clothing. By working with what you have and camouflaging what you don’t have you can easily look as great as many of the celebrities out there without being a carbon copy of them.

Work

Work Attire: Go with the Flow (with Style!)

Work

If you are trying to decide what items of clothing to include in your work wardrobe, this is a time when it’s OK to go with the crowd. While business attire is less about the person and more about business, just because you’re headed to the office doesn’t mean you have to leave your personal style behind, however. Here are a few tips to help you project a confident, professional image regardless of your career path.

•    In an office environment, you want to appear professional, not cute, sexy or trendy. The goal of work attire is not to capture attention, so any ensemble or accessory that does this is probably not appropriate. Choose well-made clothing, but steer away from heavily logoed designer items. While the flash may work at a nightclub, loud logos and gaudy bling will appear tasteless in an office environment.

•    Pay special attention to the colors you incorporate into your work wardrobe. Traditional colors such as black, navy blue, gray and red all function well for suits and shoes, and can be paired with shirts and accessories of softer pastel colors. Flashy colors and bold prints are probably less acceptable, depending on your corporate environment.

•    When it comes to work clothing, tailored is always the desired look. Pants and skirts should be fitted but not tight, with no visible panty lines. Jackets should button comfortably. Avoid open-toed shoes and heels that are too high, unless you work in a very casual environment.

•    Grooming should include neat hair, manicured nails and subtle makeup. Always strive for a polished appearance.

•    Avoid jangling jewelry that will be a distraction every time you move. One set of modest earrings, one bracelet or a simple necklace will do the trick.

If there are no hard-and-fast rules in your workplace about what to wear (many companies don’t have specific dress requirements), pay attention to what the higher-ups in the organization are sporting. Suits and ties or casual polos? Pantyhose or bare legs? Pumps or sneakers? Take cues for your own wardrobe from these looks. If you are meeting one-on-one with clients, it’s wise to dress as good or better than your client. If meeting dress tends to be more formal than your office environment, it’s a smart idea to keep a change of clothing on hand.

If your corporate culture is formal, there are still ways you can subtly exude personality in your dress. Try a few of these ideas to freshen up your work look.

•    Add a small splash of color with a bright tie or scarf.

•    Get regular haircuts at a trendy salon to ensure your hairstyle is up-to-date and polished.

•    Buy shoes and accessories with interesting patterns or finishes, such as patent leather pumps or a crocodile-print clutch.

•    Experiment with subtle ways to change your makeup to complement your look. A bit of gloss will add pizzazz to your lips, and coordinating eyeshadow will make your eyes pop. Save the sparkly cosmetics for a night on the town though.

School 2

What to Wear on the First Day of School

School 2

The first day of school can be an anxious time for many students, especially if you’re a freshman or new to the school. After a three month break, things can change a lot. Will you have friends in your new classes? Will you know where to go without getting lost? And, of course, what will you wear that will make you look casually hip without looking like you spent all summer obsessing over this one outfit?

Many students like to go shopping for new clothes over the summer. Back-to-school sales are usually too good to pass up with it comes to finding great deals on basics like jeans, tops and shoes. Clothes don’t have to be expensive. Watch your local ads (or talk to friends who like to shop) and shop around for the best buys.

Having a new ensemble for the first day of school can go a long way toward making you feel confident and comfortable. When choosing what you will wear, even if you aren’t going to wear something new, here are a few things to consider.

1.    Clothing should conform to your school dress code. If your school requires uniforms, be sure that you have the appropriate pieces to wear.  If you are uncertain about your school’s requirements, consult the school handbook. When uniforms are not necessary, good taste is the best rule to follow. For girls, avoid any clothing items that show too much skin or are otherwise distracting. Remember that you are not going clubbing or on a date. Boys should not wear hats, clothing that is too baggy, shirts with inappropriate language or images, or any clothing that could be considered gang-related. You are going to school and the focus should be on learning, not on your body.

2.    Dress to look your best, without overdressing. The first day of school is a good time to kick your style up a notch, even if you don’t plan on dressing that nicely most days. This will probably be the first time you meet certain teachers and other students, so you want to make a good first impression.

3.    Choose clothing that is comfortable to wear. It may look good, but after eight hours those tight jeans will be killing you.

4.    Avoid anything that is too flashy or too trendy. Remember, you have to go back to school again, so you don’t want to wear a killer outfit the first day and sweatpants the next. Go for a consistent style that will reflect your personality without overdoing it.

5.    The evening before, check the outfit you plan to wear to be sure it is clean and presentable. If clothing is wrinkled or dirty, wash and iron as appropriate.

6.    Shoes should also be clean and presentable, even if they are not new. Girls should avoid styles that are too high. You may be walking a lot and climbing up and down stairs, so choose shoes that are both comfortable and cute.

Interview

How to Dress for an Interview

Interview

The way you dress for a job interview gives your potential boss a lot of information about you. They want to see someone who is dedicated and hard-working and who knows what they’re doing. If you come dressed properly for  a job interview, your potential boss will assume that you have no idea how to conduct yourself in an interview and may judge you pretty harshly. To avoid this, always dress very professionally, no matter what the actual job is.

Suits

No matter what the job title is, you need to wear a suit to an interview. This doesn’t have to mean a dark blue suit that lacks imagination, but it does mean that there is no substitute for a professional-looking suit.

If you are a man, wear a suit in a solid color and wear a long-sleeved shirt under it. Always wear a belt with your pants and have on a tie. No one will know if you have on a clip on tie, so it’s okay to go that route. Make sure you have on dark-colored socks and a dark-colored leather shoe. Never pair white socks with your shoes and never wear white or beige shoes to an interview.

If you are woman, you also must wear suit. It may not make you look your most fashionable, but it is necessary for projecting a professional image. A skirt suit is usually what is most appropriate, but it is perfectly acceptable to wear a pants suit as well. If you wear a skirt suit, make sure the skirt is not too short or you will ruin the professional image. If you wear a pants suit, make sure the pants are long enough to give you a slight break. This will make the length acceptable when you’re sitting down. You don’t want the pants to look like cropped pants no matter what position you’re in.

Wear a blouse that coordinates well with your skirt or pants. Wear very little jewelry, or no jewelry at all if none of your jewelry is professional looking. Any earrings should be no larger than a dime. If you are wearing a skirt, make sure you are wearing pantyhose. It may be out of style in many cases to wear pantyhose, but it is necessary during the interview process. Your shoes can be either flats or heels. Heels stand to look a little bit more professional, but a good pair of flats that match the outfit well and are in good condition can also be appropriate.

Ties

Ties for women went out in the 70s. Don’t wear one to interview. For men, make sure your tie is conservative. It should coordinate well with your suit as long as it is not too attention-getting. Stripes or even polka dots are acceptable for a tie as long as the pattern is small and the colors are neutral. Keep the width of your tie to current fashions. Ties that are too wide will look old-fashioned. A tie that is too thin may not look professional enough.

Bra stretch

How Much Does a Bra Stretch?

Bra stretch

Recently someone asked, “How much will a bra stretch?” Well, the answer is rather tricky. Some bras are designed for specific purposes, like sports bras and nursing bras. They are intended for situations where you really need support in order to be comfortable yet the fabric must also be flexible (imagine playing basketball in a bustierre). Sports bras feature wider straps, broader cups and stronger construction to minimize bouncing. If you’re shopping for a sports bra, you want to find one that will support your girls but not be too hot or irritating to the skin.

For everyday wear that doesn’t include exercise or excess movement, there are a huge range of choices in bras. The factor that determines how much a bra will stretch is the material it is made of. Cotton has long been the staple for bra materials because it is so comfortable. Your first bra was probably made of cotton. Cotton allows the skin to breathe, and it also allows for a lot of stretch and support at the beginning. However, after a short time cotton starts to lose its elasticity, which means the bra will not provide you enough support. Another downside to the cotton bra is that the material is thin, so you risk looking pokey from the front. Cotton also fades much quicker than other materials.

Rayon is another popular bra material, especially in lower-end bras. Rayon has a silky feel to it and comes in lots of pretty patterns that look great on the rack. The downside of rayon is that it stretches and doesn’t regain its shape, and it’s also prone to wrinkles. Not a good choice for those looking for a seamless shape under their clothing.

Another popular bra material is lace, although a much different version than is used to make Aunt Martha’s curtains. Lace bras are usually made of polyester and spandex, or a similar blend which allows for some stretch. Polyester lace can provide quite a lot of support, depending on the heaviness of the fabric. The heavier the fabric, the more the support; the lighter the fabric, the more stretch it will have. If you’re a bigger-breasted woman, you should always choose support over stretch.

Another popular bra style is the molded cup, typically made from foam or fiberfill material. Molded bra cups are made on a heat press that imitates the breast shape. Molded cups look great under thin fabrics because they’re seamless and smooth, but they do not allow for stretch. If your breasts are too big for a molded bra, they will start to spill over the top and sides, ruining the smooth line you’re going for.

The most important consideration for choosing a bra is fit. It’s estimated that nearly eight out of every 10 women are wearing the wrong bra size, which can lead to discomfort during wear, neck and shoulder pain, chaffing and a host of related problems. A professional bra fitting is highly recommended to help you determine the right size. A professional can also give you further guidance on the best fabrics to choose for your needs.

How to Dress for a Retail Shop Job Interview

When going for a retail job interview, the way you dress says almost as much about you as your resume. The outfit that you choose and the way you wear it can say a lot about your attention to detail, the way that you present yourself to the world and how interested you are in the way others see you. All of these qualities are extremely important when dealing with the public each day when you work in a retail environment.

Dressing Conservatively

This first impression will be the last impression if you don’t project the right image. For most retail jobs, you will have to dress conservatively. This is particularly important when you are at the job interview. The boss will want to see that you are comfortable dressing in a conservative manner. The public that you will have to deal with may include men, women and children and you will not want to cause offense to any of those groups.

Many bosses will not hire someone if they think that they may come to work dressed too provocatively or in a way that will tarnish the image of the store. Wear a dressy pair of pants with a button-up shirt or a skirt that comes below the knee along with a nice, simple blouse. Adding a matching jacket to the outfit is perfect if you have one.

If you are interviewing for a retail management position, you will need to wear a suit or a very dressy skirt, blouse and jacket combination. Any type of management position interview should also find you with a nice briefcase or portfolio to accessorize your outfit. This will hold your resume and any other information needed. Don’t wear a backpack or carry a large purse for your papers.

Preparing Your Outfit

Your clothes don’t have to be expensive, but they do have to be in the best condition possible. Look over your chosen outfit carefully and make sure there are no frayed edges or small holes that can ruin the effect of the outfit. You should also iron most fabrics the night before to ensure that they look their best. Pair the best pair of shoes that you can with the outfit to give it a polished look. Conservative leather shoes work best with most dressy outfits.

Choosing Your Colors

Choose a neutral color that won’t call too much attention to your outfit. You want your future employer to notice you and to hear you talk about your experience and your attitude toward retail sales rather than staring at your outfit. Don’t choose loud prints for any part of your outfit. If you choose a print, choose a pattern with small, thin stripes.

Choosing tan or navy blue is always a good, conservative choice. It isn’t hard to find items to coordinate with these colors and they are easy to keep looking clean. They always look conservative and they will give you a good chance of making the right impression during your interview.
