Carmen Electra

How to Dress Like Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra’s style is bold and eclectic, and she enjoys experimenting with many different looks. Widely known for her sexy body, Carmen plays up her best assets with fashions that are flirty and fun.

Carmen Electra has worked many years to earn her celebrity status and hone her fashion sense. She started out at the very bottom of the star list, working first as a model, dancer and entertainer. In the early 1990’s she was discovered by Prince, who convinced her to change her name (she was born Tara Leigh Patrick) and record a solo album under his record label. Her singing career was short-lived however, so she next moved to television appearances. It was her appearance in Playboy magazine in 1996 that sparked the rest of her career, including her role as a “Baywatch” babe and numerous movie, magazine and ad appearances.

As a former model and entertainer, Carmen is always fashionable and can be found wearing the hottest designers whether glamming it up on the red carpet or running errands around town. Her sex symbol status allows her to pull off looks that most mere mortal women would never dare.

Dresses.
One of the most obvious characteristics of Carmen Electra’s style is her ability to rock any dress. She loves flaunting her toned body with figure-hugging dresses that accentuate her curves, such as a Herve Leger vintage number.

If you’re going for a Carmen Electra look, you should also consider going short. Many of Carmen’s dresses have very short lengths to show off her sculpted legs. She isn’t afraid to slip into unusual fabrics either, and her dress wardrobe includes an impressive array of colors, fabrics and textures. She has fun with metallics, sparkling sequins, bold prints and bright colors.

Recently Carmen has been spotted in a new fashion trend, the maxi dress. This elegant Rebecca Taylor maxi is a great example of the style. The low neckline of the maxi emphasizes Carmen’s considerable cleavage, while offering an elegant draped skirt that’s also super comfortable.

Platform shoes.
All those cute dresses Carmen wears scream for fabulous heels, and she definitely knows how to work them. The higher the better for this petite lady, and platform heels (especially those designed by Christian Louboutin) are a favorite choice when she’s on the red carpet. Heels aren’t the only pick for Carmen though. She’s also been known to don vintage sneakers, thongs and gladiator sandals for more casual affairs.

Tracksuits. Like many Hollywood starlets, Carmen likes to slip into comfy and casual tracksuits from Juicy Couture. The cool Juicy graphics on the pants also draw attention to her perfect butt.

Graphic tees. Carmen is often spotted sporting a chic, vintage-inspired graphic tee from a hot designer or one of her favorite bands. This is a look that any budget can afford, so find one you love and rock on!

Physical fitness. Carmen carefully maintains her famous figure with an exercise regimen of strip aerobics and pole dancing (she recently debuted her own line of products for these techniques). If you plan to adopt Carmen’s flirty look, hit the gym to be sure you are tanned, toned and can rock every outfit just like she does.

Philadelphia

What To Wear In Philadelphia

Philadelphia

Philadelphia is amongst the 6 largest cities in the United States. It is richly steeped in the history of this country. In the early part of American history, Philadelphia was the largest city in the original colonies. Many pivotal decisions were made there and have been commemorated there as well. Philadelphia is a popular tourist destination due to its importance in this country’s growth and development.

The City of Brotherly Love is located on the East coast of North America. It has a mercifully short winter which is snowy but typically mild. The summers have average daytime temperatures of mid to upper 80s. Spring and fall, like most parts of the U.S., are wonderful seasons for travel. The temperatures then make it easy to pack for Philadelphia, whereas winter especially requires more attention to packing warm clothes.

Philadelphia is very much a laid back city. You can easily spend a vacation there and never need to dress up. If you just plan on taking in the tourist attractions and eating genuine Philly specialties like soft pretzels, cheese steak sandwiches, hoagies and scrapple, you can easily bring along your casual clothes and never feel out of place.

In terms of the business world, many of the city’s workers work in manufacturing, food processing, tourism and oil refining. However, there are also a large number of government offices, financial services, medical research and biotechnology. Since there is such a wide range of major industries in the city, if you are coming for business, you should learn how those who work for the company you will visit dress for work. This will provide a good guideline as you pack for Philly.

Philadelphia is a huge sports town with sporting enthusiasts everywhere. There are a myriad of professional sports teams in the city including hockey, football, baseball, basketball and other teams. In terms of fashion, this means that any time a Philadelphia team is playing or doing exceptionally well its season, the team colors and clothing with team logos will be seen everywhere. On certain game days, many employers even allow their employees to wear their team clothes. If you are in Philly for any sporting event or are heading to a sports bar or other casual place, a team shirt is a great choice in clothes.

Many big name music artists are from the Philadelphia area. In fact, quite a few hip hop artists are from the city. Hip hop is very popular there and many fashion trends influenced by the music genre are commonly seen.

Over 120,000 college students go to school in Philadelphia during the academic school year and over 300,000 in the Philadelphia Metropolitan region. What this means is that trends which are popular with college aged students are often seen around the city. If you like some of the younger, trendier fashions, Philadelphia is the place to wear them.

Giada De Laurentiis

How to Dress like Giada De Laurentiis

Giada De Laurentiis

Anyone who is a fan of food and the Food Network knows who Giada De Laurentiis is. Along with having several shows on the Food Network such as Everyday Italian and Behind the Bash, she is also a frequent guest on CBS’s Today. She has a style that is all her own and is always dressed in fun outfits that are very down to earth. Because she is so down to earth and easy to relate to it makes sense that many women want to dress like her. While many starts are hard to emulate these days, De Laurentiis is not.

De Laurentiis has the rare ability to look dressed up even when she really isn’t. Here is how she does it:

•    Skirts and Dresses: At almost all times you can catch De Laurentiis in a skirt with a very sensible top or a full length dress that is nice but not too nice. She tends to stick to darker colors when it comes to full length dresses and seems to gravitate towards black or blue. Sometimes she will accent the dress with a multicolored jacket that she will leave unbuttoned. When she is wearing a skirt, she usually wears a darker color as well and will wear a dark colored top with it.

•    Formal:
Because De Laurentiis likes to wear skirts and dresses she makes an easy transition into the more formal settings. Here you will find her in a nice evening gown and usually anything goes as far as color is concerned. When choosing your formal wear, pick a color that works for you but stick to traditional colors and don’t go with pastels or colors that are too loud, as this is definitely not De Laurentiis style.

•    Casual:
While many of the dresses De Laurentiis wears could easily pass for casual she does have a rare casual side that is seen. This consists of little more than jeans and a long sleeved button down shirt. In this regard you can really be as cozy as you want to be.

•    Shoes:
This is of course going to depend on what style of De Laurentiis you are going for. With her every day look she usually wears a dark colored pair of heels. When you get your heels, don’t go too high, but don’t choose flats either. Going formal will require you to go with a closed-toe heel that matches the gown and try to stick to one solid color here. As for the formal look, anything goes. She has been spotted in sneakers and heels and even boots.

•    Accessories:
De Laurentiis is very sensible when it comes to her accessories. All that she usually wears is a watch, her wedding band, and a very thing gold necklace. When choosing your watch and necklace, go for subtle and avoid big and gaudy. As for the wedding band, that is all up to you.

Finish off the look with a simple hair due, a simple make-up job, and some cooking lessons if you really want to nail De Laurentiis.

EMT

How to Dress like an EMT for Halloween

EMT

Probably one of the easiest costumes to pull off for Halloween is that of an Emergency Medical Technician, or EMT for short. You know these guys and gals, they are the ones that ride in the back of an ambulance and are the first response to medical emergencies and then transport the victims to the hospital if need be. Because they are just everyday people in a special uniform there is nothing really super fancy that needs to be purchased in order to create a great looking costume.

Follow these instructions to ensure that you have the best looking EMT costume this Halloween:

•    Shirt: When selecting your shirt for your EMT costume go with a short sleeve white button down shirt. This is the style most commonly worn by EMTs. If white is not available you can also go with a lighter color blue, like baby blue. Try to stay with short sleeves unless only long sleeves are available. If the shirt is at all uncomfortable on your skin, wear a white short sleeved undershirt before you put on the button down. The shirt should of course be tucked into the pants you wear as an EMT is a very professional looking occupation.

•    Pants: An EMT’s pants are dressy looking slacks that are Navy Blue in color. If you can’t find Navy Blue, then go with black, but never go with a light color. Don’t go with actual dress pants, but rather a brand like Dickies or even Dockers. These types of pants are more geared towards individuals that have to look good in their line of work but still need a rugged pair of pants. Top the pants off with a black belt that is not flashy whatsoever.

•    Shoes: For shoes, go with a black pair of lace up shoes that have a thick rubber soled bottom. Stay with low tops as EMT’s rarely wear high tops. For socks wear whatever is most comfortable for you and color really doesn’t matter.

•    Accessories: Here is where you need to get just a bit creative. There are many places online that you can order a few EMT iron-on patches from and added these to your costume will certainly add to the authenticity of it. Some EMTs have been known to wear a stethoscope around their neck so that makes for a good prop if you can find one. You can also get a walkie-talkie hand held radio to carry with you and simply clip it to you belt. If you really want the authentic look wear a pair of latex gloves so it looks as though you are getting ready to go to work.

•    Crisp look: Before you put on your costume make sure that you have ironed your shirt and your pants. Use starch so that you can create nice crisp creases. Looking ultra crisp is essential to pulling of the EMT look.

Now you are ready to go to your Halloween event dressed to the nines like a professional EMT. Just remember, you only look like an EMT, you really aren’t one.

Zombie school girl

How to Dress Like a Zombie School Girl

Zombie school girl

Dressing like a zombie school girl is an interesting variation of the original school girl costume that so many women love to do. Countless women dress as a Catholic school girl every year for Halloween, so why not give your costume a scary twist this year and ensure that you will not be one of dozens with the same costume? By adding an undead aspect, you will create a unique outfit that turns heads and stands out at the parties. This is Halloween after all – the purpose is to be as frightening as possible!
Zombie school girl costume items are the same as a regular school girl outfit. Everything you need is listed below.

•    short plaid, pleated skirt
•    white knee-high hosiery
•    Mary Jane shoes with heels
•    tight white button down shirt (short sleeved)
•    zombie makeup kit
•    scissors
•    hairspray

The key to pulling together the zombie school girl costume is combining sexiness with death. Be sure that your skirt is very short, and your white shirt is very tight. Wear a push up bra and unbutton the shirt to show off your sexy cleavage. Pair the knee-high hosiery with the Mary Janes, and the sexy part of your costume is complete. Now time to be undead.

To pull off the zombie look, you must shred your clothes. This shows that you really were attacked by hungry zombies wanting to eat your brain. Use the scissors to create gashes and fringes on your clothing. You can rip off pieces as well so it won’t look so clean cut. You will also need to be dirty, so the best way to do this is to roll around a patch of dirt in your front lawn.

No zombie would be complete without that ghostly pallor. Find a zombie makeup kit at any costume shop to create the look you need. First, cover your face and neck with white face paint so that you look drained of color. Next, wear black or greenish eye shadow and extend the color underneath your eyes to intensify that bruised and shadowy look.

Fake wounds are zombie necessities. You can buy fake skin at costume shops and apply it to your arms and neck to look like deep gashes. You will also need to buy fake blood. The best way to wear this is to apply around your mouth then allow it to drip down to your neck. As soon as it dries, it won’t budge all night, even after all of your feedings. Be sure to smear some blood on various areas of your clothing too. This is a violent and bloody lifestyle after all. Makeup is a really fun way to really bring this outfit to life – or death, if you will.

To polish off the look, you will need zombie hair. To achieve this style, simply tease endlessly until you have a stringy and messy pouf and hairspray to hold. Throw a few twigs and leaves in for good measure and extra authenticity. Now you are ready for the night!
Being a zombie school girl allows you to step out of your personality and become something else for an evening. When you let your imagination take over, you have the ability to create an original and terrifying costume.

Hiding cellulite

Guide to Clothing Styles that Hide Cellulite

Hiding cellulite

It is estimated that cellulite affects 90 percent of women today. Cellulite can be embarrassing as it is sometimes referred to as ‘cottage cheese’ or ‘golf ball’ syndrome, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t something you can do about it. While it should be noted that there is no ‘magic pills’ or special cellulite reducing creams that work, there is something you can do to hide cellulite when you are out and about.

Just because you have cellulite doesn’t mean that you have to show it off to the rest of the world. Here are some ways to hide the unsightly stuff and still look great:

•    Pants and jeans: Tight is not your friend. Don’t try to squeeze yourself into a pair of pants as this will not be flattering to your figure and will actually help show your flaws instead of hide them. You should also be sure to stick with darker colors as lighter colors not only show off cellulite better, but also have a tendency to make your legs look bigger than they actually are. With jeans be sure to get a loose fit instead of a tight fit and leave the hip huggers alone. Avoid skinny jeans at all costs, as bigger legs just don’t look good in them.

•    Shorts: Everyone longs to wear a cute pair of denim short shorts, but having cellulite makes this nearly impossible. Instead try wearing a cute pair of carpris or bermuda shorts. These types of shorts will give you the comfort you want and the coverage you need.

•    Skirts and dresses: When wearing skirts and dresses go for ones that are on the longer side as opposed to the shorter side. This doesn’t mean that they have to go down to your ankles, but wearing a skirt or dress that goes down to the top of your calf will hide all your cellulite and still have you showing off some skin.

•    Beach wear:
Simply putting on a one piece is no solution for trying to hide cellulite. These days there are many bikini combinations that are designed with you in mind. Of course you will want to stay away from regular bottoms and thongs, but you can still get a bikini, just get one that has swimmers shorts or bikini shorts. If you insist on a regular bikini bottom, you can get a bottom skirt that compliments your suit and hides your cellulite as well. There are also a number of wraps that can be purchased that are both fashionable and feasible for hiding cellulite. These are especially nice for the times that you don’t want to go in the water but you do want to stroll down the beach.

Having cellulite can be a pain, but it doesn’t mean you can’t look your best. You are not the only one that has cellulite but that fact shouldn’t stop you from trying to hide it if that is your desire. If done properly it is possible to look great and cover up the cellulite that you don’t want anyone else to see.

Soccer player

How To Dress Like a Soccer Player for Halloween

Soccer player

Dressing like a soccer player is an easy way to pull together a costume with minimal effort. However, the result will look like hours were spent creating the perfect outfit. Sports costumes never follow the trends, so this is a timeless costume that is acceptable to wear for any year. It is versatile for both men and women. Men are able to play up the sporty side, while women can opt for the sexy version by baring a bit more skin or buying clothes that fit a bit more snugly. The standard pieces required are listed below, but note that variations of them will still be acceptable to pull off this costume correctly.

First, start with soccer shorts. These will need to match some color combination in your top, so the easiest choices would be red, black, or blue. If you’re not looking to spend a lot of money, you can find everything you need at Wal-Mart. On the other hand, any sports supply store can provide what you need. When you look for shorts, try to find a pair that has white stripes on the side. This will enhance the authentic appearance. If the weather is chilly outside, considering wearing some black tights under the shorts. This allows you to stay warm but won’t cover up part of the costume.

Next is the soccer shirt, which needs to match the shorts in some way. Ideally, pick the colors of your favorite soccer team. If you don’t follow soccer, choose color combinations that match your shorts. Also, try to find a shirt with a number on the back. If you can’t find one, simply buy an iron-on felt number at an arts and crafts store and iron it on yourself. This is very easy to do and doesn’t cost very much. If you are a woman going for the sexy look, try to find a top that is either cropped to show your stomach or very fitted.

You will also need soccer socks, shin splints and cleats. Be sure the socks you find are very long. They need to come up almost to your knees and have two horizontal stripes at the very top to really complete the look. Soccer players wear shin splints under their socks to protect their shins from getting damaged during the game. When paired with soccer cleats, you look like a real player. Cleats are usually black with black laces. Any sporting goods store will carry all of these items.

As far as props go, don’t forget your soccer ball. This is a key element to your costume. Also found any sporting goods location, this is also convenient for any pick up games that may ensue that night.

Cheerleader tryouts

What Should I Wear to Cheerleader Tryouts?

Cheerleader tryouts

Cheerleading tryouts can be a tricky event to plan an outfit for. There are several aspects that need to be remembered during the planning. The first of these is that you will need plenty of freedom of movement in your outfit to be able to seamlessly do your planned tryout routine.

To have the most freedom of movement, try a short skirt that is like the cheerleading uniforms normally worn by the cheerleaders at your school. If you go the short skirt route, have something under them that will not make you limit your movements to keep your underwear from showing. You might wear a pair of bicycle shorts under them or a pair of dance bottoms that are often worn under cheerleading uniforms.

Another option is to wear a skort. A skort is a shirt and skirt combo that looks like a skirt in the front but is shorts underneath. This protects you from having your underwear showing, and it also allows you plenty of freedom of movement. Make sure the skort fits well so that it is not too tight to be able to do your maneuvers.

Just like your skirt or skort, your shirt must allow for plenty of freedom of movement. Many people choose a tank top so that they can move their arms quickly and show off all of their movements. Another tactic is to wear a spandex short because it is form fitting and yet allows you plenty of movement. Whatever type of top you wear, make sure it isn’t baggy. The judges will need to see your movements to judge how well you can do the routine.

Another important consideration is your team spirit. The judges will want to see that you want to be a part of the team and that you want to represent your school. Wearing your school colors is a good way to show both to the judges. Choose your skirt and top carefully with your school colors under consideration. You don’t have to show up wearing the colors from head to toe, but they should be represented in your outfit.

The shoes you wear should be athletic shoes that are clean and in good condition. The ideal color for your shoes is white so that they don’t clash with your outfit or call too much attention to them. You want the judges’ attention on you and your movements instead of on your shoes. Make sure the shoes aren’t too heavy and cumbersome or they may make it harder to get through your routine. Try a lightweight shoe that is flexible enough to let you do your footwork easily.

Wear a ribbon or bow in your hair that corresponds to your school color. The ribbon or bow you choose should be large enough to be noticeable but not large enough so that it could make your head feel heavy or limit your movements. Tie it securely so that you don’t have to worry about it coming loose during your routine and you’ll be ready for tryouts

Watermelon stains

How To Remove Watermelon Stains

Watermelon stains

Watermelons are practically a symbol of summertime. No other fruit so completely screams summer like a juicy watermelon. It is fresh, provides hydration, is sweet and is actually pretty fun to eat. Seeded watermelon is the perfect outdoor fruit, with many a watermelon lover enjoying seed spitting as part of the fun of partaking in their favorite fruit. Watermelon works for celebrations wonderfully. Just one watermelon and you’ve got enough fruit for a gang of people. Summer celebrations just seem to revolve about this colorful, fragrant fruit. There is just one drawback however- the juice. It runs everywhere. In fact, if you pick up a piece of watermelon to bite into, you can rest assured that you will be dealing with watermelon stains later when it is time to do the laundry.

If you notice that you have watermelon stains on your clothing, treat them right away. Use a paper towel to soak up any excess juice. Then if you can’t change out of your clothing right away to treat the stain, then use a wet paper towel to blot at the stain to get as much of it off your clothing as possible.

Luckily for you watermelon stains are one of the easiest types of food stains to eliminate from clothing. The juices of the watermelon are mostly water and contain very little pigment to deal with therefore you have a much easier stain to deal with than one from blueberries or beets, which are known serious stains.

The light pink stains from watermelon juice can usually be eliminated by pouring boiling water through the stain, if you are working on a fabric that can be washed in hot water. Before starting any type of stain removal treatments on clothes, be sure to read the fabric care label so you know what you can and can’t do with the fabric you are dealing with. You don’t want to pour hot water on a shirt that must be washed by hand in cold water only.

If the stain persists the easiest way to deal with a watermelon stain is to simply apply a commercial stain pretreatment to the item and then launder as usual. Be sure that the pretreatment you use is one that contains enzymes and is formulated for such types of stains. Choose a laundry detergent with enzymes also for added cleaning power. When the wash cycle ends, inspect the clothing carefully in good light. Make sure all traces of the stain are completely gone. If not, repeat one of the stain treatments already mentioned and leave the item soaking in the pretreatment for several hours before re-washing. Following a second washing your stain should be a thing of the past.

A little knowledge and a little time invested into dealing with clothing stains can save you a lot of money in new clothes and dry cleaning bills. Enjoy even the messiest food, like watermelon, without the worry of not knowing how to deal with clothing stains.

Gene Simmons

How to Dress like Gene Simmons

Gene Simmons

Since the 1970’s the rock band Kiss has sold out the biggest venues around the world. Their style of rock and roll constantly pushed the envelope and continues to influence much of the music you hear today. Probably the most popular member of the band is Gene Simmons. Simmons is the one that was famous for sticking his extra long tongue out pretty much every chance he got.

When it comes to dressing like Simmons you could always go full out and get the outfit he wore on stage but you will really only be capturing his stage presence and not the real Simmons, though it is close. Besides to dress like him on stage you will have to put on lots of make-up and that may or may not go over so well.

When you think about dressing like Gene Simmons two words should come to your mind; casual and black. Even when he is at a special event or an awards show he looks as relaxed as can be. Here’s a sure way to emulate his rocker look:

•    Shirts: Simmons is very rarely seen wearing anything other than black shirts. When you choose your shirt you should not only make sure that it is black but that it is long sleeved as well. A nice button down shirt with the first three or four buttons undone usually does the trick.

•    Jackets: Sometimes Simmons can be seen wearing a black sports jacket, but more times than not you will see him in his familiar black leather jacket. Whatever you decide to go with, make sure that you leave it open as this adds to the Gene Simmons illusion.

•    Pants: This is your best chance for a little variety. Simmons can often be seen in jeans, dress slacks, and of course leather pants. The jeans can be any color from light blue to black, but stick to black only for the dress pants and the leather pants as he never wears any other color in those departments.

•    Shoes: To no surprise, Simmons wears black shoes. His foot attire consists of comfortable sneakers all the way to leather boots, but any way you decide to go, go with black.

•    Shades: This is the piece that ties the entire outfit together. Gene Simmons always wears his sunglasses even at night time and it is rare indeed to catch a glimpse of his eyes. When you pick out your sunglasses, make sure to choose ones that are known as wrap around. All this really means is that the sunglasses will be a bit bigger than normal. If you choose sunglasses that are too small it simply won’t fit the outfit.

•    Accessories: To complete the look get yourself a few rings to put on various fingers. Never go with gold as Simmons usually wears rings that are metallic colored or black.

As far as the tongue goes that is a mystery. If you weren’t born with an extra long tongue then use what you were given and make sure to stick it out as often as you can.

Mummy costume

How To Create A Mummy Costume

Mummy costume

It’s Halloween and you need a costume. Maybe you want to be a little more creative than the store-bought cookie-cutter outfits that are offered at a lot of the major retail chains. To be a hit at your costume party, or to simply make your child stand out when trick-or-treating, a mummy costume might be the way to go.

Creating a mummy costume will require time, but not a lot of time. You are probably picturing the fancy, purposefully antique-looking dark monsters from mummy films you’ve seen and thinking it would be impossible to recreate something like that. Actually, it’s a lot easier than you think.

Don’t get overwhelmed. The creation of a mummy costume can be broken down into simple steps, all of which don’t have to be completed at the same time.

1)  First, gather the materials. You’ll need white everything. Get a twin set of white sheets, a pair of white pants or jeans, and a long sleeve white shirt or sweatshirt, preferably a turtleneck. All of these materials can be collected from a thrift shop for under 10 dollars.

2)  Next, color the whites to achieve that rustic, having-sat-in-a-coffin for centuries look. To do this, dye all of these white materials in black tea. Add black tea bags to warm water in 3-5 gallon buckets, add the materials, and steep for about 4-6 hours. After soaking in the water, lay the now off-white clothes out in the sun to completely dry.

3)  First you’ll need a lot of mummy bandages. Start with the white sheets. Cut 2-3 inch slits down one side of the sheet. It doesn’t matter if it’s the long side of the short side. Then tear the strips up the length of the sheet . You’ll find that the strips will tear evenly and also have a very authentic looking frayed edge.

4)  With the turtleneck shirt laid out on a flat surface, wrap the mummy bandages around the shirt loosely up to the level of the armpit. To hold them in place you can use safety pins. Then, using a sewing machine, sew the strips to the shirt. This can be time consuming, but keep in mind that all you want to do is make sure the strips don’t fall off. Also, the more sloppy and haphazard you can do this will make the costume look better in the end. Feel free to overlap the strips and make some look longer than others. Avoid perfection at all costs!

5)  Now the arms. Cut along the inseam of each of the sleeves up to the armpit with a pair of scissors. Spread out the sleeves and then wrap around the mummy bandages in the same fashion. When finished, turn the shirt inside-out and sew the sleeves back together.

6)  For the pants, rip or cut the inseam all the way up to the crotch. Spread the material out on a flat surface and wrap or cover with more mummy bandages. Start from the bottom and begin sewing strips onto both legs. You can stop at the crotch because the shirt will cover the rest. Then turn the pants inside out and sew the legs back up again.

7)  At this point you’ll be running out of mummy strips. With any that are left-over, cover your face.

8)  When you’re wearing the suit, sprinkle baby powder all over for that ancient mummy effect.
That’s it! Simple! Now have fun!

Fishing

What to Wear to Go Fishing

Fishing

They say that a bad day of fishing beats a great day at work and nothing could be truer. Fishing is a wonderful way to relax and is a sport that anyone can get into regardless of age or experience. The wonderful thing about fishing is that there are no rules and you can pretty much use what you want for bait and you can throw your line in wherever there is water. This no rules approach also applies to how you dress to go fishing because there are no hard and fast rules as to the way you are supposed to dress. But if you want to get the most out of your fishing expeditions, there are some things you should know before you go on your next fishing adventure.

While any apparel will do when it comes to fishing, you can enhance your fishing experience by dressing the following way:

•    Shirt: One words here; lightweight. You should always wear light colored shirts that are made of a breathable fabric because when the sun beats down you will know it. There are actually ‘fishing shirts’ that are short sleeve button downs and on the back they have a mess lining and a flap that opens, allowing air to rush in and cool you off. If you don’t want to go that route, then a comfy white cotton undershirt does the trick every time. If it is cold in the morning when you set out, grab a good old flannel shirt to wear over your t-shirt as this will keep you nice and warm but will also allow you to quickly shed it once the sun starts heating things up.

•    Pants:
Again, you want to go lightweight. Wear cargo shorts if you can pull it off but if not get yourself a good pair of cargo pants. Cargo pants will not only be lightweight but the extra pockets make for great storage space for things like pliers and extra tackle. Wearing jeans will do the trick too, but remember that denim will not wick away sweat as a lighter fabric will, instead it will absorb it and can make you rather uncomfortable.

•    Shoes: Don’t wear flip-flops or sandals, wear shoes. You never know what kind of fish you are going to catch and you don’t want to have a spiny fin fish stick you in the foot. Not to mention the fact that there is almost always stray hooks lying around when you fish. Have you ever seen a hook in a foot….not a pretty site. You don’t have to go nuts here, just get any old pair of sneakers will do but make sure the entire foot is covered. Here’s a little tip, bring an extra pair of socks just in case your foot gets wet as the day goes on.

•    Hats and sunglasses: Wearing a hat is a great way to keep some of the sun off of you and you can wear anything here from a ball cap to a fishing hat. Get a good pair of sunglasses too as these will help you to fight the glare of the sun as it reflects off the water. If you can, pick a pair of polarized sunglasses as these will improve your vision as you look into the water and help you locate fish.

All you need now is some sun block and some bug repellant and you are ready to go. Just don’t forget to bring your pole and tackle box too.

Halloween 1

How to Decide What to Be for Halloween

Halloween 1

Halloween is a really great chance for you to step out of your usual boundaries and become something you’re not, which is why people of all ages love this strange but fun holiday. Instead of waiting until the day-of to pick up some cheap, plastic get-up from the costume aisle, plan ahead for a Halloween costume that will leave everyone terrified, charmed, screaming with laughter, or even turned on — all depending on the crowd and the reaction you’re going for.

•    Set aside some time to plan and shop. Don’t wait until the last minute if you want to have a costume that will wow on the big night. If you are creating a couples costume, you will want to coordinate the planning with your partner also.

•    Do some research. Check out Halloween costume websites to see what’s available and check out the most popular styles. You might just find the perfect costume for you, or get a really great idea for a unique design of your own creation.

•    Think about what interests you, such as hobbies, favorite celebrities, favorite characters from the movies or television, or famous historical figures. Choose a character that you are familiar with so you can imitate that individual’s dress, mannerisms and speech. You might also consider characters with whom you share a physical resemblance, such as a bald head or pregnant belly.

•    Determine how much money you want to invest in your costume. If you have an unlimited budget, a company specializing in costume rentals may be the place to get the outfit that will blow everyone away at the party.

•    If renting is too expensive an option, consider a visit to your local thrift store to search for uniforms, suits, out-of-date dress clothes and accessories. With a little imagination, your own closet may even turn into a costume gold mine. Consider what you could repurpose or alter with scissors and tape.

•    Keep in mind the type of event you will be attending and dress appropriately.
A horrifying, gory mask will not be appropriate for a children’s event, for example, and neither will your super-sexy French maid costume.

•    Weather can be a major factor when selecting a costume. If you will be wearing the ensemble outdoors, be careful to choose clothing that is warm enough, depending on your location. Many locales will be experiencing winter weather at this time of the year.

•    Pay attention to the details.
Small touches including hair, makeup and accessories can make or break your costume. What’s a pirate without the eye patch and peg leg, or Dorothy without Toto in a basket?

With a little time and effort, you can come up with an awesome costume that will make heads turn on Halloween. Plan ahead, get creative and have fun!

Soy sauce stains

How To Remove Soy Sauce Stains

Soy sauce stains

If you’ve ever cooked with soy sauce or eaten a meal with soy sauce what will strike you is the strong odor and salty taste. What might also strike you, if you aren’t careful, are splatter drops of soy sauce on your clothes. A single drop of soy sauce can be a very problematic thing to remove.

Of course, the best way to stainless clothes is to prevent the soy from splattering on you in the first place. Don’t wear whites and always wear something protective, like an apron. Even cover carpet areas that could become stained. If serving soy sauce to a group, have them spoon the sauce onto their plate rather than pour from anything potentially spill able. Also keep in mind that there are light and dark soy sauces. Cook with the light version as it contains lighter colors and is healthier for you too.

If the damage is done then this list modern and traditional methods should provide you with what you need to know to rid yourself of pesky soy sauce stains.

Act Fast. If you’re cooking and notice a stain on your outfit wash it as quickly as possible. Soy sauce contains a staining substance and this substance takes time to be fully absorbed into fabric. By running the affected area under lukewarm water this will be fixed.

Try Detergents. Mix some detergent with water and rub the ensuing foam on the area with the stain. Remember that not all detergents will be appropriate for your particular fabric. Some might be too strong. Read the labels and judge for yourself. Even better would be to administer the cleansing agent with a spray. Then put the garment in the washer. You’ll want to go through a wash cycle quickly because some of the very modern cleansing agents can themselves leave stains.

Dishwashing Liquid. One traditional method is to combine a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid in about a cup of water and pour it on the stained area. Then blot until dry. Next combine one tablespoon of ammonia with a cup of water and again pour it on the stained area and blot until dry. Finally, wipe the area with a clean water saturated sponge. Repeat these steps until the stain is no longer visible.

Ice. Another tradition technique involves ice. Simply rub an ice cube over the stained area. Then, run the fabric under cold water while rubbing the stained area with your hands. Hopefully, the stain will wear off.

Peroxide. For carpets that are made of stronger fabrics use a spray bottle with peroxide. Spray the stain, let it sit, and then blot up the stain with a paper towel. If the carpet is very wet, try a shop-vac on a high setting until you draw out the liquid. Just be sure to blot and vacuum without pushing the stain deeper into the carpeting.

Of course, if all else fails and you’re feeling totally hopeless, take the garment to the dry cleaner and plead for help.

Tourist

How to Avoid Looking Like a Tourist

Tourist

When you are traveling abroad, the last thing you want to do is stick out like a sore thumb and look like a tourist. There are a number of reasons behind this like safety for one, but for the most part, looking like a tourist just isn’t cool. Just as you may think it is goofy to see other people from different countries come here to the United States and show how touristy they are the same holds true for them when you visit their country.

It is very easy to avoid looking like a tourist and here are some tips to help you:

•    Leave the map behind: Nothing screams tourist louder than a person walking aimlessly down the street with their nose buried in a map. Instead of bringing the map with you try mapping out your day the night before in your hotel room. If you get completely lost, just go into a local store and ask for directions.

•    Dress like a local:
The first thing you should do when traveling abroad is to find out how the locals dress. Then you can either buy something before you go or buy something as soon as you get there. If you walk around the streets of Paris wearing short and a t-shirt that says Red Sox on it with your favorite Red Sox cap, do you really think you are going to blend in?

•    Avoid cameras around your neck: Another sure sign of a tourist is the video camera and regular camera hanging around your neck. With today’s technology there is no excuse for you to be walking around looking like a member of the media. Keep your cameras and video cameras in your purse or out of sight and only take them out when you intend on using them.

•    Eat what is served to you: Avoid asking for ‘American’ condiments such as ketchup and mustard as this is a sure way to out yourself. You are on vacation after all and in a whole new part of the world, so do as the locals do and try the food the way they prepare it.

•    Observe local customs: When you meat people don’t just jut your hand out and expect that it will get shook. In some countries this is taboo so it is wise to observe the local customs and do what they do. This really should be researched before you go on your trip.

•    Know the language: If you can, learn the native tongue before you take your trip. If this can’t be done, just try to converse with those who speak English as well. Using a translation book not only says you are a tourist, but if you aren’t careful you can unknowingly call someone a name when all you are trying to do is ask where the bathroom is.

Seeing the world is truly a wonderful thing, but if you don’t want to look like a tourist then you have to do your best to blend in with the locals. Do some research ahead of time and remember the old saying, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”

Sari

How to Wear a Sari

Sari

The simplicity of a sari makes it popular to women nowadays. This kind of attire is so flexible that it can be worn in different wrap-up styles and can look formal or casual depending on the design. With so many colors and prints available, there’s a sari for every taste. The right sari fabric featuring the perfect print and color will make you the most fashionable and elegant woman at the party.

Choosing the right sari for your occasion is easy. First, think about what kind of event you’ll be attending. Is it formal, like a wedding or society party? Or more casual, like simple family gatherings or a party with friends? A sari can fit in with any party, as long as you choose one that’s appropriate. They vary from elegant drapes to simple drops, from detailed prints to simple ones. Knowing in advance how fancy your party will be will save you from the embarrassment of being underdressed or overdressed.

Choosing the design, print, and fabric for your sari is another thing. For formal and serene occasions like weddings, elegant designs are preferred. Go with warm and classic colors like beige, cream, white with touches of gold and silver. Choose a fabric that compliments your figure best. Slim women should have cotton or silk so as to enhance their curves, while curvier women will prefer chiffon or georgette fabrics.

There are two more crucial pieces you’ll need to choose carefully once you’ve picked a design and fabric type. You’ll need a petticoat and a blouse. The waist-to-floor length petticoat, which shouldn’t be visible outside the Sari, must match the color of sari as closely as possible. If you have a dark fabric sari, any dark color will do, but for lighter ones, stick to a color that’s very close to the sari’s color. The blouse should end below the bust. Look for a blouse that features a very simple design that compliments the elegant drapes your sari makes when you wear it.

Dressing in your sari starts with tucking the plain end of the fabric into the petticoat, preferably on the right side of your navel. Make sure that the whole fabric is gathered on your left side and that the lower end of the fabric is touching the floor. Then wrap it around again enveloping your body from right to left. Starting at the tucked-in end, make equally graceful pleats (the number of pleats depends on the style you want) and tuck them into the petticoat, at the waist, directly opposite the other tucked end.

After that, raise the remaining fabric up under your right arm and over your left shoulder. This way, the level of the safari is at knee-length already. Lastly, you can prevent the pallu, or the loose end of the sari that’s hanging over your left shoulder, from slipping off by fixing it to the blouse with a well-hidden safety pin or two.

Use your imagination to create other wrap-up styles. The possibilities are endless – but make sure you take pictures so you can recreate a winning wrap again. Have fun and be beautiful with your own sari!

Black clothes are the basis of many a wardrobe and are more versatile than practically any other color. The only trick with black clothes however is keeping them black. Faded black clothes just do not have the same style power as true black. Faded black looks tired and rather blah. Therefore it is important to know the tricks of how to prevent black clothes from fading.

The biggest thing to consider when you are worried about black clothes fading is how you wash them. If you choose to dry clean your black clothes, your worries about fading are over. However, this is not realistic for most people, especially if they have multiple pieces of black clothing. Therefore you need to understand the hows and whys of laundering black clothes.

When you are washing black clothes at home, do so in cold water. This will minimize any fading that might occur. Use gentle laundry detergents and do not add laundry boosters or bleach of any kind. Use the gentle cycle on your washing machine as much as possible when washing black clothes. Remember to never put towels or other abrasive fabrics in the same load as your blacks. They will agitate the fibers in the black clothes causing fading. Turn clothing inside out before washing to avoid fibers rubbing on other items.

When it comes to drying your black items, you should hang them to dry. If you put them outside to dry, keep them inside out, so the sun does not contribute to the color fading. Do not put them in a hot clothes dryer as this will speed up fading of darks.

Special detergents have been formulated in recent years to be used specifically with black clothes. It is supposed to prevent black items from fading. This is said to be a good investment especially if you have a predominantly black wardrobe. You can also do an at-home fix of your faded blacks periodically by adding a package of black color dye to your next load of black laundry.

Another trick to prevent black clothes from fading is to soak the item in a mix of cold water and vinegar prior to wearing it to set the color. In each of your subsequent washes, add a capful of vinegar to the rinse water. Some suggest adding salt to the first wash to set the color of black clothes.

One thing that will greatly reduce the anguish you suffer when your black clothes fade is to choose fabrics that do not fade greatly. Acrylics and polyesters tend to hold their color well. Silks and satins also resist fading. The biggest culprit when it comes to fading is cotton, the most popular of fabrics. However, with the right treatment, even cotton can have minimal fading.

Treat your black clothes right and you can succeed in keeping them true black as long as possible. You’ll look chic and sophisticated not faded and dull in your vivid black clothes.

Football fan

How To Have Your Wife or Girlfriend to Dress Like A Football Fan

Football fan

It happens every Sunday from September through January. Men are glued to their TV sets while their wives complain; often misunderstanding the joy their husbands derive from the drama that unfolds on the screen. Why don’t women partake in their husband’s exuberance for football? Most say they just don’t understand the game, don’t see the point, and believe their men should be doing something else with their time. Men dream of a wife that will bond with them through football, as this usually means they’ll get to watch more of it.

There have been a lot of ways that men have tried to get their uninterested wives to like football. The most common approach is reminding her of the time they’re spending together while watching the games. Recently men have come up with a different strategy. Knowing that women like to dress and shop, men believe that if their wives dress the part they’ll eventually feel the part. So buying her some team merchandise, they believe, might be the way to get started.

The first step is where to go to shop? Women are naturally unlikely to shop at places where team jerseys are sold. Macy’s and the GAP aren’t going to sell Pittsburgh Steelers team paraphernalia. So accompany your wife to a local sports clothing store. This will be unfamiliar territory for her so have patience.

What will she need to wear so that she won’t embarrass you in front of your fellow fans?

1) Jersey. This is probably the most critical piece of clothing. It’s a representation of your fan-dom. Keep it simple. Purchase a jersey that only has the team’s name on it. In other words, if possible, avoid player names or numbers. Your wife won’t feel a connection to a player she doesn’t know anyway. Names can also be controversial, particularly if the player in question has had legal issues. It won’t help your cause if drunken fans yell at your wife if she has the name Vick on the back of her jersey.

2) Shoes. Sneakers are the name of the game. Go with name brands like Nike that she’ll recognize. Under no circumstances are boots or heels allowed.

3) Jeans. This is where you can give your wife some leeway of choice. Let her pick the jeans that she feels will best match the jersey colors she’s purchased. She’ll feel a sense of involvement and you can even let her shop for the jeans at the GAP.

4) Accessories. These include gloves or mittens and a scarf. The scarf can be a team-color scarf. The mittens just must be warm if you plan on going to the games in the stadium in winter.

What not to wear? This is simple. A wife in the beginning stages of dressing like a football fan should avoid face paint or wigs. In the future she can sparingly decorate herself if she becomes more of a fan.

Basically, your wife will like the idea of dressing with you in support of your team. She’ll be happy you’ve thought of her and will reward you with unlimited TV time watching the games. And if you’ve done your job she’ll even watch with you.
